Slow-in and Slow-out
This deals with the spacing of the in-between drawings between two extreme poses. Eases can be used to create acceleration and deceleration.
Historic Example
Road Runner Cactus Scene – Highway Runnery
Shows a good example of slow in and out with the changing speed of the cactus as it hits the coyote. It moves very slowly at the beginning, so there would be more frames, then very quickly when it’s falling, meaning a lot less frames. It also slows down slightly at the end of the movement when it wobbles and the overall movement decays.

Contemporary Example
The drawings show the cluster of frames at the beginning and end of the swing, where the object is decelerating. The two highest points are the pendulums maximum positions and therefore the points at which it will slow in and out. As a result of these two points, the pendulum moves much quicker in the middle, using much less frames.
